Mistaways, between Sandwich and Deal
Take a step back in time without sacrificing any of the advantages of modern day living. This property is a beautiful 16th Century thatched cottage with 21st century amenities. Set in idyllic country surroundings, this Grade II listed building is a great location for exploring all that the ‘Garden of England’ has to offer, including the picturesque coastal towns of Sandwich and Deal and the ancient city of Canterbury. This is a great choice no matter what type of holiday you are after, be it a romantic break, a tour of the many historic castles and manor houses of Kent or a more active stay embarking on coastal walks, watersports, fishing, golf or nature reserves. Of course, you may just want to escape from it all completely and immerse yourself in the quintessentially English garden and surrounding countryside.
The Cottage
You are overwhelmed by the features in this thatched roofed, oak beamed, leadlight windowed, inglenook fireplaced property! Both front doors pictured belong to this property, the left being the entry to a former sweet shop! Beamed living room with inglenook fireplace which leads to beamed dining-room with part wood-panelled walls. There is a well-equipped Kitchen with floor tiles reclaimed from a French chateau. A ground floor single bedroom with patio doors leads to a private rear garden and countryside beyond. Upstairs, there is a Double and a Twin bedroom, both with sloping, vaulted ceiling. Upstairs fully tiled shower-room with w/c and basin and another bathroom with bath, including shower attachment, w/c and basin is on the ground floor.
The Location
This small hamlet location to the North of Deal and South of Sandwich is steeped in History dating back pre Roman times. The nearby Pegwell Bay is where the Vikings first landed and both Caesar and Nelson were visitors to Deal. There is plenty in this part of Kent for the whole family; Howletts Zoo near Canterbury is a must for the children. Medieval Canterbury is a World Heritage site and is great for shopping. There are 4 pubs and the famous Blazing Donkey fine restaurant within walking distance and bordering the famous Royal St George’s golf course. Dover Castle with its wartime underground tunnels are an interesting visit and day trips to the continent by ferry or train are easily accessible.
